Meet Our Past President

Dr. Nilay Mehta

GI endoscopy is at the heart of managing a wide spectrum of gastrointestinal, pancreaticobiliary, and liver diseases, making gastroenterology one of the most dynamic and sought-after specialties. With transformative advancements such as EUS-guided therapies, POEM, ESD, and endobariatric procedures, endoscopy has revolutionized patient care through minimally invasive and highly effective interventions. The Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI) has played a pivotal role in advancing the art and science of GI endoscopy across the country. Our mission is to strengthen SGEI’s global presence, facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies, promote evidence-based and cost-effective endoscopic practices, foster multicentre collaborative research, and work closely with regulatory bodies to establish the highest standards of care. It is a privilege to serve as President of this esteemed society, and I remain committed to supporting its continued growth and success while striving for excellence in patient care, education, training, and research.

Meet Our secretary

Dr. Malay Sharma

I am humbled to lead our prestigious Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India & I thank everyone for having faith in me for this honor. Our society has approximately 1950 members and my wish is to make our family bigger. I would need help from state bearers to expand the membership in their areas. Academic heads running the DM, and DNB programs can help by ensuring that all post-graduates become SGEI members once they finish their training. We need to build a better association with the Gastroenterology societies of SAARC countries by exchanging educational programs on virtual & physical formats during the conferences and short-term training of members of society.
