SGEI–VJ VAKIL ORATION

Any member of SGEI can nominate an eminent international expert in the field of GI Endoscopy with a distinguished career for the SGEI-VJ VAKIL Oration. Self-nominations are also welcome.

01  General Eligibility

  • The applicant should be an international expert who is not a citizen of India.
  • The applicant should apply for only one award at a time.
02  Specific Eligibility Criteria

The nominee should have a distinguished academic career and should have made contribution in the field of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy as evidenced by original publications in indexed journals and/or innovation and/or training in the field of GI endoscopy.

03  Selection process
  • The awardee will be selected by a panel of judges, nominated by the SGEI executive. Judges should not be from amongst the SGEI executive. Judges opinion will be conveyed to the executive for final approval.
  • The Governing Council has the right to reject or nominate any candidate.
  • In case no nomination is received, or no suitable applicant is found, the Governing Council will have the right to nominate any
    suitable eminent person for the award.
  • The oration award committee should take into consideration the following criteria for the selection, but the final selection
    should be made on a composite of objective and subjective assessment:

  • Index
  • Total Number of indexed publications 
  • Number of funded research grants
  • Innovation and introduction of new/novel technique to the practice of GI Endoscopy
  • Patents – applied/awarded
  • Contribution to training in GI Endoscopy

SGEI–VJ VAKIL ORATION​

  • The Awardee will be invited to deliver the Oration on a topic of his/her choice during the annual ENDOCON.
  • A certificate of honor and plaque will be presented during the ENDOCON.

How to Apply

  • The nominator or the applicant should submit the relevant details of the above-mentioned criteria.
  • A write-up of 200 words to justify the nominee’s eligibility for the award
  • Full CV (Qualification, professional experience, research contribution with a list of publications with journal impact factor and
    citation, contribution to the field of GI endoscopy and awards)
