About Us
Mission Statement
The Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India (SGEI) is an association of gastroenterologists formed to promote and spread the advancement of Gastro-Intestinal Endoscopy throughout India and beyond. SGEI was started by Prof. BJ Vakil in Pune in the 1980s. The secretariat was initially at Mumbai, Ahmadabad, Patna, and then Hyderabad. It started initially as a small organization with about 100 members in the 1990s and has now become the foremost organization for GI endoscopy in India, comprising almost 2000 individual members.

Our Mission
The mission of SGEI is to advance the science and practice of gastroenterology and endoscopy through education, research, advocacy, and collaboration, and to provide professional development opportunities for GI fraternity.
