Call for Research Grant under the SGEI for the year 2024-2025.

A new research initiative is being introduced by SGEI ‘School of Innovation, Training and Research’ (SITAR) for providing funding support to young Indian researchers. The purpose of this grant will be to address research questions/technologies that are pertinent to our Indian conditions.

This initiative is open to young Indian researchers below the age of 45 years who are member of SGEI.

The research proposal should be submitted in prescribed format. Budget with proper justification should be submitted separately. Individual will have to submit Utilization Certificate (UC) for each year along with annual progress report.

The project will be considered purely on scientific merit as judged by a review committee and the decision of the review committee will be final in all respects.

Funding up to a maximum of Rs. 5 lakhs will be given per year depending upon the recommendation of the review committee. Co-investigator from the same department as well as from other departments may be included without any financial implications.

The project will be sanctioned for one year, which can be extended for another one year after submission of SE/UC and review of annual progress report by the project review committee.

The funding will be granted for consumables only and it will be not for staff, contingency, travel, organization as well as attending of conferences/ workshops/ meetings, and purchase of machinery & equipment.

The same project should not be submitted for funding to other funding agencies.

In general, please refrain from submitting ‘Clinical Trial’ proposals as they require DCGI clearance and also compensation to be paid in the event of serious adverse event, since the budget grant will have no such provision for compensation.

Funds will be allocated for approved projects only after institutional ethical clearance is obtained.

The investigator should duly acknowledge the SGEI whenever the research work is being published or presented.

Unutilized grant should be returned to SGEI after the project is over.

Timelines

  • Last date of project submission: 29 th  February 2024
  • Results to be announced: 31 st  March 2024
  • Resubmission of the further documents by the researcher:  7 th  April 2024
  • Award of the grant: 21st april  2024
  • Submission of the Project report and UC: After one year
