SGEI–HG DESAI AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
Any member of SGEI can nominate another member of SGEI, with a distinguished career, for SGEI HG DESAI award for excellence in endoscopy. Individual members can also apply for this prestigious Award.
01 General Eligibility
- The applicant should be a member of the Society of Gastrointestinal Endoscopy of India.
- The applicant should be of Indian Nationality.
- Applicant should apply for only one award at the time.
- Age should be less than 50 years as on 1st January of the year of application.
02 Specific Eligibility Criteria
- The nominee should have a distinguished career in in the field of GI endoscopy and should have made outstanding contributions to training, academics, and clinical care.
03 Selection process
- The Awardee will be selected by a panel of judges nominated by the SGEI executive. Judges will not be part of the SGEI executive. Judges ‘opinion will be conveyed to the executive for final approval.
- Governing Council has the right to reject or nominate.
- In case no nomination is received or no suitable applicant is found, the Governing Council will have the right to nominate any suitable person.
04 Criteria to be considered for selection
- HIndex
- Total Number of indexed publications
- Number of funded research grants
- Innovation and introduction of new/novel technique to the practice of GI Endoscopy
- Patents – applied/awarded
- Contribution to training in GI Endoscopy
SGEI–HG DESAI AWARD OF EXCELLENCE
- A certificate of honor and plaque will be presented during ENDOCON.

- Please submit all the relevant details in support of the above-mentioned criteria.
- A write-up of 200 words to justify his/her eligibility for the award.
- Full CV (Qualification, experience, research contribution with journal matrices, contribution to the society, contribution to endoscopy, contribution to SGEI, list of awards.
- List publications (original article, review articles, and chapters).
- Photograph
- Name of two referees.
